I am a self-taught artist and I specialise in studies of wildlife including birds but also love to paint chickens and other farm animals as well as pet portraits. Living in a small Norfolk village on the edge of Thetford Forest I have had ample opportunity to observe and photograph the wildlife of Norfolk and this has been the inspiration for many of my paintings.
The medium I use is pastel pencils together with soft pastels, usually on velour paper as this enables me to obtain the detail I like to achieve in my paintings.
I exhibit locally and nationally and as a member of The Wildlife Art Society International (TWASI) I exhibit at their annual exhibition at Nature in Art, Gloucestershire. In supporting the conservation work of The World Land Trust and local Wildlife Trusts I exhibit with them whenever possible.
My paintings and commissioned animal portraits are in homes around the country and many of my originals are also available as prints and greetings cards.
My studios are open by appointment throughout the year.
If you are interested in commissioning a portrait in pastel I will need 2-3 good, clear colour photographs taken at the animals eye level.
